Another friend turns 50 soon - this time Kate Stockwin. We first met Kate and her husband Michael shortly after we arrived in Australia in 1988. Kate gave me clarinet lessons for about 4 years, and we became friends that have lasted since.
To celebrate turning 50, last night Kate gathered lots of friends and family together. This included her parents Audrey and Arthur, who had flown out from England the day before. Michael Bennett, Kate's husband, spoke particularly well, expressing his love for her with sincerity but without excessive sentiment.
Such a large party shares a characteristic with a wedding; many different people gathering in celebration of one special person. Susan and I had a delightful time, and we thank Kate and Michael for their friendship.
