Yesterday we had a day out for Susan's navigation training. Jopie Bodegraven organised a hiking navigation skills day for Melbourne Bushwalkers members, and so we went along for Susan to learn some of these skills. I had learnt bush navigation when at Auckland University as part of the Tramping Club, so the day was an opportunity to brush up.
Jopie ran a straightforward course that covered the basics well, and didn't get people confused with unnecessary skills. He choose good locations to practice map reading skills, which is the key aspect of bush navigation. Susan did enjoy the day and skills learnt.
