The 3rd day on the road took us into the edge of the Outback, Wilpena Pound. After lunch at Hawker, the nearest town to the Flinders Ranges National Park, we arrived at Wilpena Pound Resort by mid afternoon.
Since we still had afternoon left, we climbed up to the lip of Wilpena Pound. On the walk we saw countless lizards, but luckily no snakes.
To finish the day, we decided to have an evening picnic at Sacred Canyon, an Aboriginal rock carving site near the resort. The car park is at the end of 13.5 km of unsealed road, and led to a big misadventure.
